The first Astronomy Education Workshop, supported by the International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education (IAU OAE), was hosted by Istanbul Kültür University on October 8-9.
The workshop, which was held with the participation of primary and secondary school teachers and educators in primary education, was organized by the Department of Physics of our Faculty of Science and Letters. In the workshop, which welcomed national and international experts with the academic support of Turkish Astronomical Society (TAS), AstroBilgi Team and experts in the fields of domestic and abroad, the basic astronomy topics were transferred practically in order for educators to convey the Astronomy topics in the curriculum to their students better and to improve themselves.
The workshop, which is among the projects approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and supported by the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education's Teacher Training Pilot Program 2022 call of IAU office, was held with the AstroBilgi Team, of which the faculty members of IKU Department of Physics are also a part.
In the event, in which Stefano Sandrelli, Director of the International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education (IAU OAE) Italy Center, participated online, Vice Principal of the Center, Sara Ricciardi, and Stefania Varano were guests of our university to give face-to-face trainings.
